the pool. the value for money.
i wouldn't classify it as downtown, that implies easy walking distance, though luckily there was a convenient bus stop. breakfast could do with a lower sugar content
Professional and friendly staff.
"Downtown" does not correctly describe where this hotel is although there is a good trolley service run by Charleston which stops outside and will take you to the actual downtown area. Our room was not big and we felt it did not represent value for money.
The location was close to the road for the city, beach, and heading back home. The drive to the city and beach took only 15mins and it was super easy to get on and off the highway. Overall, decent location.
It wasn't as nice as I thought it was going to be. I've stayed at multiple Best Westerns and this one was probably one of the least nicest hotels. It's kind of dingy. I think the outside needs a renovation and the rooms need to be bigger. Overall, it needs an upgrade. However, the staff was super friendly and helpful and it wasn't terrible for two nights.
Free trolley to downtown outside hotel. Comfy rooms and friendly staff
Not much. Room did have a refrigerator. Desk staff was friendly.
Small room, skimpy on (thin) towels and had to request more. We went in search of a second luggage rack and were told by housekeeper that "every room had to have one" therefore she couldn't give us one from another room, and she was pretty sure the desk couldn't give us another.
I thought that the staff in particular were brilliant they were full of info which is what you need when in a new environment.
The staff are a triumph to the city of charleston!
Location, close to Downtown, but not in it. Comfortable walk into Downtown.
The breakfast was appaling. The telephone in the room didn't work & a light bulb Over the desk needed replacement. Both issues reported on day 2 but was still not fixed 6 days later !!
It was pleasant, not too far from downtown, and dog-friendly. The soap was generous-sized and nice. I liked being able to open the window.
The immediate area is ugly, and although it's called "downtown", it's not walkable to downtown. I didn't care for the decor either, especially in the halls.
The hotel was very clean and even the air in the building was crisp and clean. I liked being in a no smoking hotel. It does make a difference for the nonsmoker. The hotel staff was very helpful answering questions about the area.
I think having some kind of breakfast option would be nice.
Our stay in October of 2010 was wonderful. Our room was very clean and the beds were soooooo comfortable. It was priced reasonably with regards to location. I would definitely go back.
The front desk could have been more informational in regards to the trolley
Hotel was very affordable for a city setting - hotel staff gave us detailed map directions to historic city attractions.
very nice hotel, only downside was bar and restaurant being refurbished
too far to walk into the historical centre of Charleston, website could have made this more clear.
Our stay was ok and the hotel was very well priced. It was however not exactly where we expected it to be. The website says close to historic town and suggests it's walking distance but it is not. When we asked we were advised to take a taxi in the evening ( $10 ) as it might not be safe. Daytime there is a shuttle bus but we did not find it. All in all we enjoyed our stay and found staff very helpful but you get what you have paid for.
The Breakfast was excellent, the room was clean and had a good comfort
Our room had a bad view and was a little noisy because of machines running all night
I liked having a refridgerator in the room. It was very convenient.
